Pablo Picasso (1881-1973), Spanish painter, sculptor, graphic artist, and ceramist, who worked mostly in France, is noted for his technical virtuosity, enormous versatility, and incredible originality and prolificacy.  He is considered one of  the foremost figures in 20th-century art.
